RALEIGH, N.C. (November 2, 2009)?Mary Freeman, president and CEO of the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (www.tammylynncenter.org), today announces WTVD-TV ABC-11 news anchor Angela Hampton will serve as honorary chair of the 25th A Toast to the Triangle™ (www.atoasttothetriangle.org). The event, which raises funds for the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation, Inc, to support children and adults with developmental disabilities, will be held March 7, 2010, at North Carolina State University’s McKimmon Center in Raleigh.

“We are so excited to have Angela join us this year for the Toast,” says Freeman. “Her enthusiasm for the Center and the Toast is inspiring to us all, and we look forward to working with her to make this year’s event the best yet.”

Hampton is an Emmy award winning journalist who co-anchors WTVD-TV’s Eyewitness News at 11 p.m. and contributes reports to the early evening newscasts. She brings 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism, working for stations in the Triangle and all over the country as a news correspondent and anchor. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A Raleigh native, Hampton remembers visiting the Tammy Lynn Center as a teenager, for high school service projects.

“It’s truly a privilege to serve as honorary chair of the 25th annual A Toast to the Triangle,” says Hampton. “I have a special place in my heart for the Tammy Lynn Center. The children and the caring staff have made an impression on me and the Triangle is lucky to have such an amazing facility for children with severe disabilities and their families.”

A Toast to the Triangle offers guests samples from more than 40 of the area’s finest restaurants, caterers and purveyors of fine wines and beers, as well as friendly competition among the participants. More than 1,200 guests attended the 2009 Toast, which raised $191,000 for the Center’s programs and services.

In 1986, the first A Toast to the Triangle was held to raise funds to build residential facilities at the Tammy Lynn Center. Since then, it has become the signature fundraising event for the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation, Inc., which supports the Tammy Lynn Center programs and services such as Community Residential, Early Childhood Intervention, Respite Care and non-Medicaid Day Services.
