USA (SANEPR.com) April 23, 2008 -- A WARNING FOR WOMEN:
DO NOT GET BREASTS LIKE THOSE OF CELEBRITIES
Garden City, NY ---- According to a survey conducted by the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group of women patients who want to undergo breast augmentations, “too many women want to look like celebrities, which is a mistake,” commented Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh, a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
“When women come to us for consultations,” said Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh, “they have an image in their minds of the kinds of breasts that they want. It’s very similar to someone going into a beauty salon and asking for a hairdo that is worn by a famous movie star or singer. They not only want the haircut, they also want the same shape and size breasts of their most admired celebrities. In some cases, they have never seen the naked breasts that they admire, but they like the way the celebrity looks and so want to resemble that person. In some cases, women choose celebrities whom their husbands or boyfriends find sexy. Yet, such a standard can be damaging to a woman’s appearance. I explain to my female patients that they have their own shape and look. If they attempt to look like someone else, they will often wind up with breasts that are not in proportion to the rest of their physique. Each woman is an individual, and her breasts should fit her body. When a woman comes to me with a photograph of a nude celebrity or one with a low cut dress, I attempt to dissuade her from imitating what she sees in a photograph. In numerous cases, such as photos in a Victoria’s Secret catalogue, models may be using push-up bras that do not reveal the accurate shape and symmetry of their breasts. One should not make a decision about one’s appearance based upon such photographs.”
When asked who are the celebrities that most women want to look like, Dr. Alizadeh gave the following alphabetical list: Christina Aguilera, Hallie Berry, Mariah Carey, Cameron Diaz, Salma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson , Angelina Jolie , Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Sharon Stone.
“The three women who topped the list are Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, and Salma Hayek,” said Dr. Alizadeh. “The other women celebrities were pretty much all tied in popularity.”
