ARC director guest speaker at writer’s retreat

MYSTIC,CT JULY 18,2011 - Kathleen Stauffer spent 26 years in the publishing field, a career that took her around the globe and revealed the tremendous power of human relationships.
“Stories have carried me through life,” says Stauffer. And she will be sharing her own story when she sits down on Saturday, July 30 with a group of emerging writers at the annual Creating a Writing Life Retreat.
The retreats which have become an annual event, are facilitated by journalist Patricia Ann Chaffee, and are held in her Mason’s Island home on Fisher’s Island Sound. Writer’s of all genres and ability come for inspiration, to exchange ideas and go home with a few tools for creating their own writing life.
Stauffer’s publishing career began as an associate editor for Catholic Digest in Mystic and culminated in a position as president and publisher for Bayard Magazine Group based in New London. She has published three books including co-authoring Facing Life’s Challenges by Sheed & Ward, 1996. This year, Stauffer was the recipient of the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s speaker of the year award.
Two years ago, Kathleen Stauffer felt called into the non profit world, accepting a position as the executive director and chief executive officer at ARC of New London County.
“The only thing better than writing about making the world a better place is doing it,” says Kathleen.
And at this retreat, she hopes to enlighten the hearts and minds of a few emerging writes who are looking to be inspired, empowered and enchanted by a day at the ocean.
The retreat is being held Saturday, July 30th from 9:30a.m.-3:30p.m., and includes a continental breakfast and gourmet box lunch. Registration is $135. For more information, or to register, email contact@PatriciaAnnChaffee.com or call (860)536-0051.
