Author and Teacher Launches Book To Help Children Cope With Anxiety

(SANEPR.com) July 15, 2008 -- Westchester, NY/ July 7, 2008- Rogue Bear Press announces the release of Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective (ISBN 978-0-9789512-0-7, Rogue Bear Press, 2007) by Jason Edwards. The book is the first book in a new children’s book series by Edwards. Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective is designed to help young children deal with anxieties and hidden fears. Edwards wrote the book initially to help his own daughter cope with painful anxieties. Yet as a schoolteacher, he realized that all children could benefit from such a book which led to the development of Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective. He will be following up Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective with other books that deal with issues that children tackle.

Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective begins with a young boy, Will Allen, who is being haunted by monsters that are a manifestations of Will’s fears. Will, with help from the Great Monster Detective Bigelow Hawkins, learns how to conquer his monsters and uncover the secret of a hidden beast that lies in wait behind all Will’s other monsters. After facing his fears, Will becomes a monster detective and now goes out to help others face their fears with his best friend Jeannine.

Will Allen and the Great Monster Detective is part of the Accelereader Program. Each book in the series grows with the reader. All of the books help improve the language skills of the reader. As the reader reads each book they become more challenging in structure, theme, and vocabulary. In addition to doing traditional book signings, Edwards also does monster hunts for children ages 7-12, story plays for children ages 3-8, and monster maker activities for ages 5-10 as a way to bring the book and its message to children in an easy and fun way without realizing that they are learning in the process.
