Care for Leather Furniture

It is costly as compared to other forms of material and hence, has to be maintained carefully.
Leather Furniture can last for a very long time if maintained properly. If the furniture is placed close to high temperature, it can cause hardening and create cracks in the leather.
Avoid placing close to the fireplace or out exposed to direct sunlight.
If anything is spilt on the leather, instead of wiping the spot out, its bets to absorb it out. It is best to place a tissue on it to dry out soon. Most often leather is water proof, but sometimes it may absorb water. Air-drying is important after letting it dry. The presence of water on the surface of the leather can cause the growth of certain kinds of mould.
If these are some form of staining, it is best not to use any solvents or cleansers on the leather surface. These may cause a lot more harm to the leather than actually remove the stain. In case the stain remains, it is best to call in a leather specialist and get it cleaned. Leather is a very sensitive material to scratches. The leather should avoid contact with any sharp objects in its vicinity. Cat scratches and dog scratches will remain for a long time. It is extremely difficult to remove these scratches from the surface.
Some kinds of furniture come with a manual. If the set you purchased had I one with it, it is best to go through the booklet for certain specific instruction about the furniture. Conditioner must be applied to the couch occasionally, about every six to twelve months. Leather has a very absorbing surface. It is best to keep away any ink or dye stains from the furniture.
