Ontario, California, USA. (SANEPR.com) July 17, 2007 -- The Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce (SCBCC) will host its 10th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic, at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort (One Industry Hills Parkway, Industry, CA 91744) on Thursday, July 26, 2007, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Celebrity golfers include Jim Pickens, Jr., Richard Gant, Rocky Carroll, Keith David, David Marciano and several other actors and directors. During the Golf Tournament, non-golfers can enjoy a Fashion Show & Lunch, hosted by Clifton Powell and Iris Little-Thomas; and a marketplace and art show. This day-long event will serve to raise Sickle Cell Disease awareness, with proceeds benefiting the SCBCC’s minority business development programs. Event sponsors include Chino Hills Ford Sales, The Scotten Group, and Starbucks.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone to play 18 holes alongside celebrities, while raising money for our business development programs,” says SCBCC president, Rich
Wallace. “We expect to host over 200 golfers, and have a exciting day planned for all.” The Pacific Palms Conference Resort Eisenhower and Zaharias are both championship 18-hole golf courses. Famous for their long fairways, 160 sand bunkers, 8 lakes, and large undulating bent grass greens, both courses are considered among the best layouts in Southern California, and staffed by PGA Professionals.
Iris Little-Thomas (Law & Order, Soul Food, Everyday People), and Clifton Powell (Shark, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), will host a Fashion Show & Lunch, with fashions by Ms. Smith's X-cessories-N-Things from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., and live music by Jazzzone.net and the Jammin’ Foundation. Kiki Shepard (Showtime At The Apollo), will host the BidWhist Tournament from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., which features a $500 Grand Prize, along with raffles and other games.
National Card Sharks, Inc. (www.sharksinc.com), a bidwhist tournament specialty company, will provide the game rules and monitor the event.
