Eco-Luxury: Trends, Awards, Place ?
Trends have always been a driving force in the fashion and related businesses and, today, they matter more than ever before. Just keeping up with the pace is hard enough; staying ahead would be impossible without the help and guidance offered in the many areas around the exhibition devoted to trends forecasting.
No one can fail to notice that an “eco” label is a fast-developing trend. An Eco-Friendly Product Collection Award was created at the last Fashion Access, a testament to the growing importance of this trend as it moves into the mainstream of fashion. The eco-theme will be further highlighted in the program of talks and seminars scheduled during the fair. These events pass on insights and advice from some of the most successful people in the industry.
Launched last March, the Eco-Luxury Zone highlights the growing appeal to eco-conscious consumers for unique handmade products and manufacturing processes that preserve ancestral crafts, provide work to underprivileged populations and that do not harm the planet. A special display area for these eco-friendly products can be found at the Eco-Luxury Zone, in Hall 5, at Fashion Access. It includes handmade, natural or recycled products ranging from the “Eco-Fashion” line of rubber products from the Amazon forest to “Eco-Chic” handbags handmade¬ – with all kinds of local natural fibers – in the Philippines, to the “Eco-Couture” wallets made – in Hong Kong by 091 – of recycled advertising banners or the “I am a plastic bag” line of tote bags made from recycled plastic bags – in India – by Conserve.
