Competition Heats up for Chili Cook-Off

USA (SANEPR.com) October 15, 2008 -- The competition is heating up as entries flow in for Niantic Community Church’s Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-off, on Saturday, Oct. 25. Amateur and professional cooks from Niantic, and surrounding communities and as far away as Manchester and Stonington are entering their most flavorful, most original recipes with a savory selection of spices that are sure to please the palate.

The best chili recipe wins bragging rights, a chance to have your recipe featured on the menu at Niantic Diner and gift certificates donated by local sponsors. Space is very limited and forms are available by calling the church. Entry fee is $15.

The Harvest Festival and Cook-off will also include free face painting and pumpkin sale (1:00-6:00), live music with Charlie Dowling, hot dogs, homemade pies, and of course all you can eat chili sampling and cornbread from 5:00-6:30 followed by Line dancing with Lynn Manolakis from 6:30-8:00.

The all-inclusive cost for this family event is $12 for adults/ $7 children age 12 and under and items can be purchased individually as well. Come on down and vote for your favorite chili. Proceeds from this event will benefit the NCC Accessibility Fund for projects that make the church space more functional for those with disabilities.
