DWIGHT ALI WILLIAMS TO DIRECT HIS FIRST PLAY, DIE LAUGHING BY MARQ OVERTON, WHICH MAKE ITS WORLD PRIMERE IN NEW YORK CITY

Dwight Ali Williams to direct his first play, Diversity Players of Harlem’s production of Die Laughing. The play was written by Marq Overton, a Def Comedy Jam Alum. Performances will be at the Roy Arias Theatres from September 26 thru September 30, 2007.

Dwight Ali Williams is the proud executive producer of all Diversity Players of Harlem productions. As a child, Dwight Ali experienced the entertainment world by working in commercial print and television commercials. After a break from the business as a teen, Dwight Ali returned to acting on stage. His stage credits include For this reason… A Love Story; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat; Amen Corner; A Family’s Play; A Soldier's Play; and now The Red Lamp. His passion for entertaining audiences has led him to work in many areas of the entertainment business including: acting, singing, dancing, song writing, producing, set design and more.

Die Laughing examines the life of Michael Laurence, a struggling comic forced to deal with the possibility of his demise. After an alarming telephone conversation, he comes to the conclusion that the joke is on him after he develops breast cancer. Through his circumstance truth is unveiled through comedy which shines light on his ignorance, awareness and ultimate redemption.

The Roy Arias Theatres @ the Times Square Arts Center is at 300 W 43rd Street 5th Floor New York, NY, between 8th and 9th Avenues.

Performances are scheduled for September 26 – September 30, 2007. Wednesday thru Friday performances are at 7:00pm. Saturday performances are at 2pm, 5pm, and 7pm. Sunday’s performances are at 2pm and 5pm. Ticket Prices are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door. A portion of all proceeds will go to help fight cancer.
