Digital photo frames to outsell iPod

USA (SANEPR.com) November 27, 2008 -- In 2007 Apple sold an estimated 10,000,000 iPods, and with projected figures of 12,000,000 for Christmas 2008 it would seem to be another successful season for Apple. But iPods are expensive, making it a struggle for families hit by the credit crunch, and are notoriously plagued with technical problems.

The 7-inch digital photo frames cost as little as £25, a fraction of the price of an iPod, and are a far more practical gadget that appeal to all ages. Estimates suggest that photo frames are set to outsell the iPod by 50%, with 20 million people in the UK buying them as gifts for friends and family.

Citing the lower cost and practicality of a picture frame over expensive and fragile iPod audio players, shoppers are buying the frames as an alternative to other pricey techno-gadgets.
