Ranchi. The Election Commission (EC) has issued notice to Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly misbehaving with a senior officer and Congress leader Imran Kidwai for making ``communal`` statement during his poll-related speech.

``Notices to both the leaders have already been sent and action will be taken if they were found guilty``, S Y Quarishi, Election Commissioner, told reporters here today.``We are taking suo motto action in these matters and will not wait for any complaint in such cases``, Mr Quarishi said.

Mr Quarishi, who was here on his two-day visit, said no one had the right to violate model code of conduct and the commission would not let anyone go without punishment if he or she was found guilty.

``We have also ordererd the suspension of Deputy Development Commissioner of Khunti Pankaj Mishra, who was not serious about the commision`s direction``, Mr Quraishi said.``We are also keeping eye on every officer and a number of them were in our watchlist,`` Mr Quarishi said.

To a query, he said no party should make discriminatory remarks on tribal and anti-tribal issues during the election campaigining in the state.``It would be a straight violation of model code of conduct``, he added
