Fire in Brampton leaves 28 people homeless!

Re: Fire at Darras Court in Brampton

Eight families lost everything on that sad May 31st Sunday (28 people displaced and homeless - nine being children) and three of these families not having any insurance, we, residents and neighbours of Darras Court felt that we should do all we can to help out.

We had a huge outpouring of offers to help and for donations of money along with everything else, for which all are so grateful. I am sure some of you have /or are in a tough situation, please do not feel bad if you cannot give with money; take this opportunity to spread the word through all media means that you know like Facebook, Twitter, etc … your contribution will be counted.

To make sure, all is done properly and to maximize our efforts, we have opened an account at Alterna Savings (Credit Union), 2909 Queen Street East, Brampton, Ontario.

The fund is administered by two of our senior (in time of being here) residents.

We are looking at organizing a couple of activities as fundraising events such as Huge BBQ, maybe a car wash, maybe an auction, all of us are working together, so we will need help, support by way of donations, and lots of love and prayers.

We are appealing to all of our Brampton residents and all of the surrounding communities to come together and to show that we have a heart for these families, and that even if times are tough for some of us, they are a lot tougher for these families and we can make a difference, and we will.
