Industry experts gearing up for Transport, Shipping and Logistics Expo & Conference ‘TransOman’

An inaugural platform for the logistics industry sector in Oman, the TransOman Conference is set from 14th to 15th October at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Seeb. The Conference will be held alongside the TransOman Exhibition which will run from 13th to 15th October at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

According to Warith Al Kharusi the logistics industry sector in Oman is experiencing phenomenal growth and is set to bring with this growth many opportunities in the future. The TransOman Conference aims at highlighting these various potentials.

“This year”, Al Kharusi explained, “we are about to see the first conference to bring together all elements of logistics. It is the aim of the conference to highlight three key areas; Opportunity and Growth within the Logistics Industry, to introduce to the Industry Service Providers; thirdly, to create local employment and career opportunities within this broad sector.”

The TransOman Conference will centre on the growth of ports and shipping, rail, road transport and aviation within the Sultanate. “Rail is another completely new industry on the horizon and will no doubt improve Oman’s infrastructure, while aviation is also seen to be growing in a big way and generating much interest”, Al Kharusi noted. “Furthermore, the industry’s future developments and opportunities must ensure we embrace global best practices in safety standards.”

According to Mr. Nick Hodge, Managing Director at OITE “The conference will have a plenary session wherein the government will provide an overview of the industry, its plans and the various opportunities in Oman. It will also feature international speakers who will communicate best practices and share their knowledge and experience. This is not only a venue to exchange views—it is also about attracting investment”.


It is the hope of the Advisory Committee that the TransOman Exhibition and Conference will create a new dawn and increase cooperation in a previously segmented market. The Advisory Committee will reconvene on the 17th August 2009.
