Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is the removal of the infected pulp of the tooth and is performed to protect and keep a sick or dying tooth. Often, teeth that require root canal therapy are infected or sick due to decay or injury, have chronic pain from contact with hot and cold liquids, pain from pressure or biting down and/or danger of the infection spreading.
Once the infected pulp is removed, the remaining chamber is filled with a rubber-based material to seal it off. All teeth that have had root canal therapy are more susceptible to fracture and must be protected with a tooth-like artificial covering known as a crown. Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped restoration, also referred to as a “cap”, which is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size and strength. Crowns can also be used to improve the appearance of one’s teeth. A crown may be needed for many reasons including:
• Protecting a weak tooth from breaking
• To hold together parts of a cracked tooth
• Restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that is severely worn down
• To cover and support a tooth with a large filling and a small amount of remaining tooth structure
• To cover misshaped or severely discolored teeth
At Kimberly Smiles, crowns are a one-appointment procedure. While you wait we use CEREC, an in-office CAD/CAM to create your restoration on-site in about 15 minutes. It is then fitted, polished and bonded for performance. Your tooth is restored back to its natural form, function and beauty all in one appointment.

Tooth Replacement

A tooth should be replaced as soon as it is lost. Replacement will retain your oral health by preventing bone loss, reducing movement of surrounding teeth and avoiding excess decay. It is also much more difficult to clean teeth that have shifted, so harmful plaque and tartar can accumulate, causing cavities and periodontal disease.

Dental Implants

Implants offer a natural looking, permanent solution for tooth replacement. A single tooth or a full arch of teeth which have been lost to injury or disease can be replaced with dental implants.
A dental implant is a small, sturdy titanium post that acts as the root structure would for a natural tooth and is placed in your upper or lower jaw bone. Once the bone has grown around the implant, it can support a crown, bridge or over-denture depending on your individual needs.
