Instead of trying to push her way into the traditional publishing market, Star began doing her own research and discovered that Print on Demand (POD) publishing was well worth the time.

An author local to Beloit, Wisconsin, Star discovered a way to create her own publishing imprint in early 2008 in order to get her novel, Blood Forsaken, out to the public.

During a search on Amazon.com, Star came across a link for a printing company. Curious about what they had to offer, she jumped to their web site and began to browse their publishing options.

"I had checked out other Print on Demand companies before, but none of them offered what this one did," said Star Davies, author of Blood Forsaken. "They provided an ISBN if I did not have my own, allowed me to set the list price of the book, and gave me the option to add my own imprint. On top of all of that, they list the book on Amazon.com for me."

This opened a whole new world. Star had the opportunity to do what she always wanted to do, create her own imprint, Divica Press, and publish her books at her own pace, by her own rules. This brave move has her looking into other options.

"I am currently looking into distribution warehouses, such as Baker & Tayler," she stated. "In order to make Divica Press a real asset for myself, I need to consider warehouse distribution centers so that my books can be made available in national chains like Borders and Barnes & Noble."
