Aimed at kids in the age group of 6 to 14 years, the character is being launched through an interactive webportal, Buzziboy.com.
Buzziboy.com has everything a child would need – e-Comics, stories, cartoons, fun-based learning games, greetings, Klub, chat, Mart (where they can buy things of interest and use to them), e-mail, etc.
According to Ashish Maan, CEO of LV APL and the brain behind the character: “Buzziboy.com is a tool that we are offering to parents and teachers to help develop soft skills in kids and impart value-based education through entertainment. It makes learning fun – so that the kids imbibe and practice what they learn.”
Buzziboy is the first-of-its-kind pragmatic approach to nurture and help the present generation kids grow with the right values and knowledge. A very close-to-reality concept, Buzziboy.com storyline encourages young minds to think creatively.
“Buzziboy does not talk about muscle power but about creativity and about the power of the mind in solving problems faced in day-to-day life,” adds Ashish. “It inculcates a positive and constructive thought process in the young minds, helping them grow with the right attitude, values and knowledge.”
A reward mechanism, conceived to encourage enhanced portal usage by the kids, have been structured to boost their self-esteem through relevant prizes. “Instead of the usual goodies, we plan to give out school tuition fee, kiddie bank accounts and mediclaim policies to the kids earning the highest number of points,” explains Ashish.
LV APL plans to expand the Buzzi medium of delivery from the current online space to DTH/Mobility as well as DVDs. “We are working on making a full-length DVD movie out of one of the comics,” says Ashish. “India has great potential for cartoon characters as children love watching cartoons. I am bullish about animation in India.”
The Indian animation industry today stands at Rs 20 billion, and is projected to grow to Rs 42 billion by 2009. “There are so many animated movies being produced, it was the right time for us to launch a kids portal and then extend the storyline into a DVD format,” adds Ashish.
Initially focused on the leading metros of India, the Buzzi Bandwagon is planned to rolled out across the nation soon. “We are working to reach out to the kids though a multitude of options – online and offline promotions as well as direct school connect,” says Ashish.
As part of the School Connect Programme, Buzziboy.com will reach out to the teaching community to sensitize its members about the utility of using comic characters to impart value-based education. “Buzzi’s focus on non-violent solutioning is the right fit that Indian teachers have long been looking for,” says Ashish. “We will organize a range of activities across different schools to enhance the top-of-mind recall for Buzzi Gang.”
