USA (SANEPR.com) April 24, 2008 -- Construction of a 6,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Calibration Lab was recently completed at Laboratory Testing Inc. in Hatfield, PA. The design nearly doubled the space previously occupied by the calibration staff and streamlined the shipping/receiving and order entry functions for the department known as LTI Metrology. The latest technology for lighting optimization, environment control and vibration control was incorporated into the new construction for optimum accuracy and efficiency.
LTI Metrology provides dimensional, pressure, force, torque, mass and vacuum calibration services. Dimensional calibration of thread rings and hand tools takes place in a temperature and humidity-controlled room to stabilize the instruments before measurement. Length standards and other masters are calibrated in a separate “cold” room, which is continuously monitored to maintain an environment within the guidelines of 68 degrees ± 1 degree and 30-50 percent relative humidity. The cold room is lit with 120-150 ft. candles of indirect lighting to prevent shadows and glare. The dimensional lab, cold room and pressure/torque/force room were each built on isolated foundations to minimize vibration effects from surrounding departments in the facility. Information on Laboratory Testing calibration services and accreditations is available at http://www.labtesting.com.
Laboratory Testing Inc. of Hatfield, PA has been in business since 1984, and moved to Hatfield, PA in 1999 after purchasing a 45,000 sq. ft. building and adding a 2-story 9,000 sq. ft. addition. The company specializes in materials testing, nondestructive testing, specimen machining, failure analysis and calibration services. The laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by PRI/Nadcap and A2LA, which complies with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. Mechanical, chemical, metallurgical and nondestructive testing services are performed on metals, alloys and other materials. Chemical analysis is offered for a variety of materials including metals, powdered metals, ores, ferroalloys, composites, ceramics, aerospace materials and nuclear materials. Test specimens are machined on-site and material investigations are conducted to determine the root cause of material failures. The calibration lab, LTI Metrology, provides dimensional, pressure, force, torque, mass and vacuum calibration services traceable to NIST. Field calibration service is offered for surface plates, hardness testers, optical comparators, balances, hand tools and testing machines. LTI provides new instruments and replacement parts as a representative for manufacturers such as Mitutoyo, Starrett, Boston Centerless, Glastonbury Southern Gage and Vermont Gage.
