Here is an excerpt from the new Choosing Wakeboards information webpage:
"The first and most important thing that you should consider when choosing your wakeboard is your height and weight. Buoyancy is a very important factor in this sport. If you choose too small a board, you will sink in the water despite being towed by the motor boat. On the other hand, if you choose too big a wakeboard, you will find it very difficult to control the board and surf properly. Further, merely skimming the surface of the water is not the ultimate goal of this sport. Performing tricks and having lots of fun is the purpose of this sport. If you choose too big a wakeboard, you will find it very difficult to perform tricks when surfing.
Further, the shape of the wakeboard matters a lot. Some boards have a round curvature at the end, while others have a square and sharp curvature. This affects your ability to perform tricks when surfing on your wakeboard. The rocker of the board, which is the curve of the board, has a huge impact on your surfing. Some boards have a practically non existent curve while others have a sharp curve which requires a lot more skill to handle. Your choice of wakeboard should also depend on your ability and expertise. If you have been wakeboarding for many years, you can choose a board that requires a lot of concentration and strength. More often than not, such wakeboard help you perform many difficult tricks and maneuvers very easily."
