Liverpool looking to continue unbeaten

November 30, 2011 - Kenny Dalglish’s men are hoping to extend their unbeaten run this weekend as they take on runaway league leaders Manchester City.

A win or a draw against their north west neighbours would see Liverpool unbeaten for the tenth game in a row as they continue to quietly climb the Premier League table. The Kopites currently sit fifth behind Chelsea, who they defeated last weekend with a dramatic late goal from full-back Glen Johnson.

Along with this weekend’s opponents, the Reds boast the best defensive record in the Premier League but goals could also be on the agenda considering Liverpool’s 3-0 win over City last spring and the Blues’ recent fine goal-scoring form.

Despite their run of success, the team know that free-spending City will be a tough proposition. Speaking to the Liverpool Daily Post, Dalglish said: “It will be difficult against Man City, we know that. They’re top of the league and are playing very well.

“Not being in Europe means we have a week to prepare for their visit. We’d much rather be in Europe than not be but for us it’s not about having the time to get ready, it’s how we use that time to prepare. We’ll do that properly and see what the weekend brings.”
