Maersk Line receives ‘Highest Throughput handled by a Shipping Line’ Award from JNPT

India (SANEPR.com) June 24, 2008 -- Maersk Line, the global market leader in container shipping, won the ‘Highest Throughput handled by a Shipping Line’ award at the 19th anniversary celebration ceremony of JNPT.

The award was received by Mr. Hans-Ole Madsen, Managing Director, Maersk India Pvt. Ltd. at the function held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Mumbai on May 31st. This award comes in the wake of Maersk Line having handled the highest volumes at JNPT in 2007-08, a total of 5, 69,259 TEUs from all the three terminals put together. Out of this exports stood at a mighty 2, 91,320 TEUs & imports were equally strong at 2, 77,939 TEUs.

This award is a reflection of the success Maersk Line has achieved in addressing the container transport needs of India, one of the largest and the fastest growing markets in the world. Maersk Line, with its truly global service network has over the years consistently provided comprehensive and reliable end-to-end transportation solutions to its customers. It operates 4 direct weekly services out of JNPT which includes a service to Europe (ME1), a recently upgraded service dedicated to the Mediterranean (ME3), a service to the Far East (FM3) and another one to the US East coast (MECL 2) which is also the fastest in the industry with a 17 day transit time to Newark.
