Manhattan Plastic Surgery Expert Speaks Out on "Mommy Makeovers"

New York, 28 July 2011 - "It's true that the title is catchy and new mothers benefit greatly from mommy makeovers." says Dr. Diktaban."But there are many women out there in the tri-state area that could also benefit. It's a shame that the name alone keeps them from even asking about the procedures."

A combination of common cosmetic surgery procedures, "mommy makeovers" typically are touted as a way for new mothers to return to their pre-pregnancy shape. However, the problems inherent in post-pregnancy are the same that most women face throughout their lives, whether or not they have ever been pregnant. The tendency to store fat in the belly and thighs is universal. Also, weight loss from either child birth or dieting often leads to excess skin which no amount of diet or exercise can ever eliminate. Breasts naturally begin to sag as women age and even more so when they breast feed their children.

Breast enhancement (augmentation or reduction with or without a breast lift), tummy tucks and liposuction are all procedures to combat the effects not only of child bearing but of genetically inherited traits, weight fluctuation and aging. For many patients, wrinkle removal completes the transformation to a younger, healthier look.

Dr. Diktaban continues, "In New York City alone, I have treated hundreds of healthy women who simply wanted to look better. Many of them were new mothers but many were either childless or had given birth years before they came to see me. By far, those with healthy lifestyles have benefitted the most. However, even those women who have less than desirable eating and exercise habits come away looking and feeling much better."

Dr. Diktaban emphasizes SmartLipo as one of the newest surgical techniques he uses in "mommy makeovers." Both safer and faster than traditional laser surgery, with SmartLipo patients can be up and back to normal activities within a day or so.

"Certainly I am happy to treat new mothers in their quest to return to their former shapes. But I think it's a shame if other women in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Boston areas dismiss a 'mommy makeover' simply because of its name."

Dr. Diktaban, M.D., F.A.C.S., received his undergraduate degree from New York Medical College. He completed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by a fellowship in microsurgery at the University of Louisville.
