2010 is off to rocky start for celebrity marriages, with the Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren disaster showing just how badly things can spiral out of control when you don’t put sufficient effort into fixing your relationship before it becomes hostile. Marriage counselors are obviously working overtime with these two and other celebrity couples, but the fact remains that despite the involvement, the revolving therapy sessions and even the rehab, too many marriages are falling apart when they don’t have to. My system, Marriage Fitness, is different and it works. If you think that your relationship might be in need of marital help, visit my website where you can now download 47 free marriage help articles.
March, 2010 - By offering visitors to my Marriage Fitness website access to 47 free marriage help articles, I’m offering an alternative to traditional marriage therapy and a path for couples to work on their relationship before it disintegrates. I’m Mort Fertel, and if you’ve seen me on NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox News, PBS or read an article about my Marriage Fitness system in Family Circle, Psychology Today, USA Today, Ladies Home Journal or the New York Times, you’ll know that I’m nothing like traditional marriage counselors. In my opinion, forcing a couple, usually with at least one reluctant and often resentful partner, to face each other and talk through their issues and grievances is not how to save your marriage. In most cases, this approach simply doesn’t work and we’ve all seen ample evidence of this in the public failure of numerous celebrity marriages already this year, including those of golfer Tiger Woods and actor Charlie Sheen.
Consider the situation these celebrity couples find themselves in. Bad enough being in the spotlight while trying to work through a troubled relationship, but they’ve gotten to the stage where they are in crisis; spouses are hurt, angry, resentful and firing off shots at each other in public. Lawyers are involved. Their marriage counselors will be trying to bring the couples together to talk about the problems that brought them to this point, but have you ever tried to have a conversation about something that makes you livid (such as infidelity, broken trust or addictive behaviors) without it spiraling into an even worse fight? I don’t believe talking through past issues is the best way to salvage the relationship. If asked how to save your marriage, my proposal is that you try my Marriage Fitness program instead. My program doesn’t focus on the past or force you into endless confrontational communication sessions, it teaches you to neutralize your problems and engage in a series of relationship habits that will work wonders in fixing your marriage.
