Operational excellence at Pipavav achieved on maiden ME3 call.

(SANEPR.com) April 13, 2009 -- Work productivity achieved was a record 120.5 m.p.h.



The inaugural ME3 call, by ‘MV Nedlloyd Drake’ was on 6th April 2009. The ME3 service provides shippers in Gujarat and North West India with direct connections to ports in the Middle East, Mediterranean, Red Sea and Europe.



Mr Prakash Tulsiani, Managing Director of Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited, attributes the port’s success in attracting the new service to the combined team efforts of the port.



“Our top priority is to provide excellent service to our customers from the first call” he said. “This latest operational achievement is testament to our commitment”.



Mr Ashley Dinning, Chief Commercial Officer at Port Pipavav, praised the continuous improvement shown by the operations team.



“When we approach our customers, our operational efficiency is a strong selling point. We know what our customers need and our entire focus is on ensuring those needs are met” he said.



At a special ceremony on board the “MV Nedlloyd Drake”, Mr Tulsiani presented the vessel’s Master with a plaque commemorating the event.

Port Pipavav, India’s first port in the private sector is an APM Terminal, which is located in the state of Gujarat, 140kms South West of Bhavnagar. Port Pipavav is a multi-purpose, all weather port which handles bulk, break-bulk and containerised cargo. The port has a total quay length of 1075m, serviced by modern bulk, break – bulk and container handling equipment.
