Phillips DiPisa Announces Fifth Schwartz Video Interview

Phillips DiPisa, a retained executive search firm serving healthcare providers and managed care organizations, today announced that it has produced the fifth in a series of video interviews that demonstrate the power of compassionate caregiving and the programs run by The Kenneth B. Schwartz Center.

Background

The Kenneth B. Schwartz Center is a non-profit organization that supports and advances the concept of “compassionate healthcare.” The Center strives to improve relationships among caregivers, patients, and their families in ways that provide hope to the patient, support to caregivers, and sustenance to the healing process.

Phillips DiPisa has already produced and directed four short video interviews featuring patients telling the story of their relationships with their caregivers. These interviews bring to life the stories of patients whose lives have been touched by caregivers who have embraced the Center’s concept of compassionate care.

About the Video

Leon Kibbett was an alcoholic and homeless since 2004. He also suffered from liver cancer, and was cared for at The Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program.

Leon’s caregiver, Kendall Jones, is a licensed social worker who works on the Street Team at The Boston Healthcare for the Homeless. In this video, these two very different men describe the deep and personal bond that developed between them over the course of Leon’s care.

Leon passed away on March 7, 2009, with Kendall at his side.
Kendall accepts all of his patients for whom they are, and encourages all caregivers to do the same. Both men share in the video that they knew their relationship was special right from the start.

Leon also offers that Kendall was one of the few caregivers who “make me feel like a human being.” Kendall, on the other hand, was taken with Leon as an individual who bore up under so many life challenges, yet maintained his wry sense of humor.
