From Playa del Carmen you can take a road trip to Tulum to check out timeless and magnificent Mayan ruins besides the blue ocean. You can also enjoy its beaches. DO not forget to take your bath suit with you!

If you want little more adventure you can visit Xcaret which is a water park near Playa del Carmen with lots of shows, animals and activities. You can also do snorkeling and view gorgeous reef. One of the highlights is the swim with Dolphin. You can also explore Cenotes. This region has underground rivers with exposed sinkholes with crystal clear water and beautiful formations.

You can also visit Chichen-Itza which is centre of Mayan ruins. One can see 2 main pyramids which are a sight to behold.
