Beijing, China (SANEPR.com) July 3, 2008 -- Promoting basketball in China is a no-brainer. Basketball has seen its popularity steadily rise since homegrown stars like Yao Ming entered the NBA and brought media coverage of the sport to China, and the NBA would like to see this popularity continue.

Capitalizing on the increasing popularity of basketball in China, the NBA China Games bring top NBA teams to fans in China for three exhibition games. The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers joined the Chinese National Team for this year's tour.

To promote the tour, the NBA turned to Plus Factory to create a special website to highlight the event. "We are thrilled to be working with the NBA to help bring the excitement of NBA basketball to an emerging fanbase, and our site continues to serve those fans even now with the games finished and teams back in the U.S.," said Simon Tsai, General Manager of Plus Factory's Beijing office.

The site, china.nba.com/chinagames2007/, provided fans with links to purchase game tickets, read up on teams scheduled to play and offered a host of multimedia content. And now that the tour has wrapped up fans can visit the site to relieve the games in video highlight reels and download images and screensavers from the games.

The idea of Promoting an basketball in China is not new or radical. NBA merchandise can be found in 50,000 retail outlets in China and Spalding sold more than 1 million basketballs last year. And online, the story is much the same. According to the web-traffic tracking site alexa.com, traffic on at china.nba.com accounts for 8% of all the traffic on the NBA's website and the number of page views and visitors have nearly doubled in the past year.
