PureTravel Reveal Latest Website Featuring Cambodia Holidays

North Western Cambodia is one of the most significant archeological sites in the world and shares a border with Laos, Thailand and Cambodia's other three provinces. Apart from the region's world famous ruins, the province is also home to the country's stunning northern mountain range and is divided up into several regions including Preah Vihear and Banteay Meanchey. No holiday Cambodia can offer is better than one to North Western Cambodia, which also contains the magnificent Angkor Archeological Park.

The city of Battambang lies in the Cambodian region of Cardamom and Elephant Mountains, and one of its most poignant attractions is the Phnom Sampeu hill, which contains the infamous Khmer Rouge killing caves. A shrine has been created in the space where so many lives were lost and visitors to the cave complex are also faced with the somber sight of a glass sided stupa that contains the skulls and bones of many of those who were lost.

The Wat Ek Phnom temple complex is to be found just outside Battambang and contains an impressive, albeit partly ruined, temple with many imposing pillars and a beautiful oxblood roof. Also part of the complex is a giant statue of the Buddha as well as an ancient Angkor-style temple that features intriguing carvings. Wat Ek dates back to the 11th century, and highlights include the fascinating Churning of the Ocean of Milk lintel carving.

Another of the amazing Battambang temples is the Wat Baydamram complex, which is unique because its most prized inhabitants are a hoard of fruit bats. The fruit bat herd lives under the protection of the temple's monks and populate the trees growing on the grounds of the temple complex. No holiday Cambodia offers is as interesting as the one that includes a visit to this fabled bat temple.
