San Diego Fine Art Society Announces Artist Mentee Launch Pad to Be Featured at Hollywood

San Diego, CA, March 10 , 2010 -- The San Diego Fine Art Society announces an addition to the Hollywood Glamour Ball – Launch Pad, a special gallery exhibition to honor artist mentee graduate Ansley Pye in celebration of her transition from one phase of her career as an artist to the next step of starting her journey to seek representation at national galleries. Ansley is a local artist known for her oil paintings on canvas that portray the perfect imperfections in organic objects – the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Ansley’s work is inspired by her own journey with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Twenty years ago while she was living a comfortable life in the mortgage industry, Ansley was diagnosed with MS and has suffered tremendously since. She often lost sight, her ability to speak, and couldn’t move her arms and legs. Eventually, at times she was forced to rely on a wheel chair and soon the cost of treatment affected her finances and she lost everything. She began to see her life differently and thought, “if I’m going to die in five years, what would I regret.” What happened next changed her life.

Ansley taped a paintbrush to her hand and began painting a watercolor of a sunflower. She spent hours doing it when just days before, she would have been exhausted just going to the bathroom. Now, she was able to paint for four solid hours. Painting gave her a new lease on life and continues to be instrumental in keeping her healthy.
