Sreenidhi organizes International Symposium on • Opportunities & Challenges facing Aviation Sector

(SANEPR.com) April 17, 2009 -- Speaking to Media persons on the occasion, Mr. K.T.Mahi , Chairman Sreenidhi Group said, “The aviation sector during the past five years in the Asia – Pacific region and specifically in Indian subcontinent has seen unprecedented growth. The Indian Civil Aviation Ministry has forecast a growth of up to 80 million passengers by 2020, and to be doubled in the next decade. However, the current financial environment across the globe requires a careful review of the status of the aviation industry and a focused deliberation on ways to sustain this growth .The intent of the second International symposium is to provide an open forum to industry and academic leaders for such discussions”.
Dr. John Fitzpatrick, President, Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, New York, USA said, “We all are cognizant of the fact that the global financial environment has impacted all sectors of industry including aviation. The international symposium brings together leaders from industry and academia to share their perspectives to deal with the current challenges and long term scenario. The well trained and skilled workforce has always been important to the success and growth of the industry and economy, it becomes even more so during the times like these. We are sure that the industry and academic perspectives shared by various leaders during the symposium will provide an opportunity to aviation professional attendees from Vaughn -SNIST to get the insights of the industry challenges/opportunities and better prepare them to serve the industry”.

Many leaders and experts from Aviation Industry and Academia are scheduled to participate in the Seminar to share their perspectives on issues facing the Aviation sector in Indian Subcontinent. Among the key speakers are Mr.Nair, CEO,GMR, Hyderabad, Mr. Gilbert George, Senior General Manager, Jet Airways, Mr.Murali Varadrajan, Dy, General Manager, Operations and Planning, GVK, Mumbai International Airport, Mr. Sunil Kishen, Executive Director, Air India, Mr. Larry Coughlin, MD, Boeing – Commercial Aerospace, India, Mr. Ajay Mehra, MD, Airbus, South Asia, Mr. Venkat Raman, VP and country Manager, HEICO, Bangalore, Mr. Narsimham, General Manager, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and dignitaries of NAL will participate in the proceedings. Topics to be deliberated at the Symposium are: Technological Advancements, Challenges in Aviation Sector, Low Cost Airlines - Economic Viability, Benefits and pitfalls of privatization, Impact of Human Resources - growth and sustainability of Aviation in Indian subcontinent, India’s readiness - technical, safety and security to be an International Hub in the South Asian region
As part of the “Aerofest-2009”, significant contributions, technological innovations and scientific developments by NAL shall be on display from 18th to 20th April, 2009 at the Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, Ghatkesar, Hyderabad. Dr. V.K.Saraswath, a pioneer and architect of Indian Missile Development program will inaugurate the Aerofest 2009. A Seminar on NAL Technologies will be conducted in the college on 19th April, 2009, covering areas such as: Powered Hang gliding & Paper planes, Micro Air Vehicles, Testing of Aerospace Structures, Flight Testing and Aerospace Electronics. Micro-Aircraft display and demonstration will be part of the Aerofest.
