USA (SANEPR.com) June 19, 2008 -- Tamarind Arts Council in collaboration with Time and Space Gallery of Bangalore, India, is very pleased to announce the opening of its upcoming exhibition Structure and Mystic Space; an exhibition showcasing paintings and sculptures from numerous contemporary Indian artists. These works emanate the dynamic cosmos of Time and Space and other mystical fundamentals such as Heaven and Earth, Life and Death, and Mother Nature.

Participating Artists: Dhiraj Choudhury, S. Gopinath, Vishal Joshi, Bhavani Katoch, Somenath Maity, M. S. Murthy, K. S. Nagure, Balan Nambiar, Akkitham Narayanan, Siraj Saxena, Amitabh Sengupta, Sidharth.

About the Artists:
Dhiraj Choudhury is an eminent artist who has been working for decades. His work seeks to unite earthly existence with spirituality through a developed figurative and narrative language. This artist transports the viewer into a world of brightly enhanced microcosms of women in India, gallantly exploring the beautiful aura around them, whereas Somenath Maity paints the urban environment in a manner that questions the complexity of reality. The energy of his colors and textures recall the exuberance of city life. His work also portrays depictions of urban landscapes circulating around India. The dynamic strokes this artist uses will provoke the viewer into thinking one is in another dimension.

M.S. Murthy’s work has a fine work of refined geometry depicting negative space, whereas Amitabh Sengupta work is filled with convex evocations of ancient scripts, creating a liaison amongst diverse trends of Contemporary Indian Art.

S. Gopinath sculptures interpret the material and the spiritual.

Vishal Joshi inspires the forms in nature. He works to interpret the cosmic rhythms of organic forms in his paintings in order to delight the viewer.

Bhavani Katoch evokes a kaleidoscope of infinite possibilities in his work. His bold use of color and light allude to an abstract image of nature.

K.S. Nagure uses his inspiration from the life of Buddha and the ascension of his spirit. His traditional imagery explores the search for truth and celebrates the enlightened soul.

Balan Nambiar translates the ambiance of Kerala into sensory sculptures. His conscious exploration of his roots reveals itself in multi-layered sculptural forms.

Akkitham Narayanan’s paintings are geometric configurations of abstract forms. With an affinity for the purity of geometry, Narayanan fuses Indian tantric art and European geometric art to create a form entirely of his own.

Siraj Saxena echoes the simple but vibrant use of color and creates variations of patterns of a weft tapestry.

Amitabh Sengupta studied the ancient scripts which has informed and shaped his paintings. He uses mathematical notions to create a global and timeless aesthetic.

Sidharth’s intentionally stylized characters embark on a mystical quest. His use of color is reminiscent of ancient traditions of India.

About Time and Space:
Time and Space started as an exponential mission to procreate the obscure and dynamic philosophy of contemporary art and to encourage people to delve into its surrealistic universe. Through successive solo and group exhibitions, it has developed into a significant gallery of Bangalore. The space has been used for art events such as art appreciation courses, artists’ dialogues, group discussions, book launches, as well as musical concerts, film screenings, poetry readings, and prominent theatre. These events have fused a rapport between the renowned gallery and fond people of Bangalore.
