Ian Carmichael, already an acclaimed film actor following his television success as Bertie Wooster in “Jeeves and Wooster” in the 60s, came to the role of Lord Peter Wimsey as to the manor born. In these five feature length tales – available individually and in a suitably stylish collectible boxed set – Lord Peter Wimsey takes on a variety of cases that test his prowess.

Clouds of Witness finds him grappling with a murder in the family; The Unpleasantness at The Bellona Club explores the mysterious death of an aged Colonel with an inheritance at stake; Murder Must Advertise sees Wimsey posing as a copywriter to investigate evil doings at an ad agency; The Nine Tailors finds an emerald necklace at the heart of a robbery with deadly implications; and Five Red Herrings allows the Lord a short vacation in Scotland before he becomes embroiled in the strange death of a local artist.

These five films make up the complete Ian Carmichael collection of Lord Peter Wimsey performances which broadcast on BBC TV from 1972 to 1975. Though Edward Petherbridge would later take on the role, nothing could compare to the wit, charm and comic good humour that Carmichael brought to the character. In fact he would also take on the radio adaptations for the BBC which ran on Radio 4 between 1973 and 1983.

Each DVD release features an exclusive interview with Ian Carmichael, making them a collection worthy of a Lord.
