Brooklyn native Jai Bills is all set to debut her new fashion collection this Spring and those who have already been lucky enough to take sneak peeks at the designer’s fashion forward creations call this fashion designer the Kanye West of the fashion world. Just like Kanye, this fashionista has survived an almost fatal car accident in 1993. Today she is a living testimony to the “Survivor” attitude and is definitely ready to Rock’ IT. The designer’s brand new label Rock’ IT is a brand new venture as she takes over the family’s 30 year old business. The new label will feature clothing and jewelry for men, women and even children. For Bills, this is the perfect blend of her love for high fashion, music and the family jewelry business. She has dedicated her line to all the fashion conscious individuals who believe fashion is more than the clothes your wear, it’s a “Lifestyle”.

However, as unique as Bills’ fashion is touted to be, the designer herself seems to be one of a kind. This socially conscious fashion designer/activist is challenging other fashion moguls by pledging to donate a percentage of sales and time to support several worthy causes: Women Conquering Cancer and proud sponsors for The AIDS Walk for The Treatment for Life Center. In addition, the youthful fashionista is all set to run the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The sense of community doesn’t end there for the members of the Bills family. Jai, along with the family are also sponsoring a Rock’ IT Scholarship for DC metro area students interested in pursuing Fashion, Journalism or Communication Studies. The student will receive $1,000 to cover their expenses and also receives an opportunity to intern with JaiBills.com part time. The Bills family is quick to point out that scholarships will only be handed out to students who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, insisting that education is important in today’s world.

Apart from their regular promotional gigs, fashion definitely seems like a brand that is working hard to stand out. As part of its online marketing campaign, JaiBills.com has created, Rock’IT TV featuring daily blogs, videos and a section asking local celebrity fashionistas “How they Live Life in Styles”. The celebrity stylist will also host several public service announcements raising awareness for HIV/AIDS and erasing the negative stigma placed on victims of Sexual Abuse and Domestic Violence in the African American Community.
