Volusia Manufacturers Association (VMA) continues its annual tradition of supporting the United Cerebral Palsy of East Central Florida (www.ucpecf.org) by selling poinsettias to support the UCP’s mission and by attending its Holiday Reception and Open House from 5-8 p.m. on December 4, 2009.
United Cerebral Palsy is the leading source of information on cerebral palsy and is a pivotal advocate for the rights of all people with disabilities. To date, approximately 65% of the people UCP serves have a disability other than cerebral palsy. UCP affiliates serve more than 170,000 disabled individuals and their families every day, nationwide. UCP provides state-of-the-art programs, information and referral services, legislative advocacy, technology initiatives, research, and direct services locally through assistive technology training, early intervention services, individual and family support services, and social and recreation programs. UCP provides support for living services, employment assistance, and others as needed.
The UCP of East Central Florida has been in existence since 1969 and serves to help those individuals with disabilities live their lives without limits and with increased independence by offering a comprehensive array of home and community –based services. The UCP of East Central Florida serves over 500 individuals each year in Volusia and surrounding Florida counties.
At the Holiday Reception, poinsettias and holiday ornaments will be for sale and will also be on sale on location or on the website from November 17, 2009 to December 23, 2009. The 2009 Official Holiday Ornament for Daytona Beach is the 2009 Right Whale which was designed by the renowned artist, Sang Roberson. Additionally, the Special Edition 40th Anniversary ornament designed by local artist, Marcos Alvalle-Mendez will be available for purchase. Other unique ornaments designed for the UCP are available for purchase on the website. All proceeds will go towards continuation of the UCP of East Central Florida’s mission.
The Volusia Manufacturers Association has been dedicated to supporting the annual Poinsettia sale for the UCP of East Central Florida and local food banks in December as part of its Volusia and Flagler County community outreach.
