(SANEPR.com) March 30, 2009 -- Last week at the final table of ‘Circuit Event Championship’ in the World Poker Series that was held at the Atlantic City, Samuel Chartier won. There were 208 participants. Samuel Chartier, the 23 years old poker player who belongs to the Montreal city, won a whopping sum of $322,944. This winner defeated Toronto based John Nixon.
In this tournament, former winner Dennis Phillips gave the ceremonial "Shuffle up and deal" command. Phillips won a huge amount of $4.5 million finishing in the third place. Another winner and ‘PokerXFactor’ instructor Eric Haber was also present there. In the last tournament, there were 277 participants; there was a decrease in the number of entrants by 25%.
David Zeitlin came in the ninth place winning $20,184. Player Chris Klodnicki, who came in the 12th last year winning $591,000, landed in the 8th place this time when his jacks ran into another player Vizza's kings. Vizza has repeatedly sent his opponents to the rails. Another player Jason Young pushed at a wrong time with K-Q on a board of 8-4-3. And then the champion Samuel called with jacks and Young went out.
Player Matt Brady's game life saw an end by the hands of champion Samuel Chartier. Matt’s pocket 8’s were a favorite 4:1 against the champion’s 3’s pre-flop. However, the champion Samuel Chartier tabled a flush and sent Matt packing. The player Alex Bolotin, aka "Diesel" was thrown out when he was in the fifth place when he pushed K-3 on the short stack.
In the other brutal beats, player Michael Michnik witnessed his A-J going down to Samuel's A-J when he hit a flush. Samuel’s hand bumped Michael from the tournament in the 4th place. Player Vizza found himself packing in the 3rd place after his A-2 could not stand in front of the K-J of Nixon. Vizza was sent home with an amount of $90,828 when a jack hit the river, good enough for his efforts. Vizza’s elimination resulted in as a showdown between Samuel and Nixon (he was holding a 2:1 chip lead). Finally, Nixon was called by Chartier, who was holding A-J. The flop A-J-5 gave Chartier top 2 pairs. A five and 10 came as a turn and river, announcing Samuel a winner. Samuel earned a great $322,944 plus a seat in the final event of WSOP worth $10,000.
Later, Samuel Chartier said in a conference, "It was amazing. I really do not have words explain the feeling I have. I clearly knew that the final table was quite tough, I decided to choose some good spots to put my money and I did it successfully." Samuel Chartier ranked 7th in last year’s European Poker Tournament held in Barcelona, earning a sum of $250,000. And previous to that in the Bahamas, he finished in the 81st place in the Caribbean Adventure of PokerStars.com, gaining a cool amount of $16,000. He has earned the second highest poker prize in the United States.
