World’s Top Surfers to Compete in WA

8 of the world’s top 10 surfers will be heading to next year’s biggest ever surfing event for Western Australia - the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro. World surfing champions Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore will headline the competition, while homegrown talent Taj Burrow, winner of the Hawaiian Pipeline Masters will also take part. Competitive surfers from all over the globe will descend on the Margaret River next year for the event which takes place between March 15 to 21.

Surfing WA vice president Errol Considine was very happy they had attracted the biggest names in the sport, and added it would be more than just a surfing event, as there will be six days of music, arts, fashion and food. He was also hoping that talk of top American surfer Kelly Slater is to attend the event, would prove true.

A live national broadcast of the finals will be televised on cable tv and a programme of highlights will be going out to international networks.
