“You Are More Connected Than You Know,” says leading sales and business expert

UK (SANEPR.com) November 11, 2008 -- If you’ve been scratching your head over a thorny business problem recently, you should look no further than your own existing networks for the solution, says leading sales and business expert Lori Richardson. “When I talk to people about broadening their network, I use the acronym YAMCTYK - (Yam-Citic) You Are More Connected That You Know,” says Richardson on her latest business TV show on yourBusinessChannel. Well-known blogger and president of sales consulting and training firm Score More Sales, Richardson has over 25 years experience in proving sales and expert business advice.



Richardson has found that, most people, however well they might know their workmates and neighbours, have no idea how connected they are until they have conversations at some length to find out. On her business TV show, she describes sessions she has been running recently. “We take a random group of people and we sit them at a table and we have them all list out three to five things that they’re looking for.



For example, in business, you might be looking for someone to be a virtual assistant to help clean your database, reply to emails and so on. We then go around the group, and everyone lets the others know what it is that they need, to see if anyone in the group has some connections, comments, or ideas about where to find the answer.”



There’s a “fascinating power” to this technique, says Richardson on the business TV show, and you can try the same technique with email, or an online social network, or with your immediate peers. “All of a sudden from the strangest places you’ll find someone who has an answer for you.”



Richardson’s expert business advice is therefore to “keep an attitude of abundance, try to help other people first, and you’ll be amazed with the results.” While the solution to your problem may not be directly in your social group (unless your friends are marketing geniuses and business experts), chances are that there will be a connection to help you somewhere.
