YourTruckTax.com Renovation Leads to 100% Increase in Online Filing

Westford, MA, May 26, 2010 -- YTT LLC (YourTruckTax.com) recently announced a 100% increase in filings of Form 2290 since they implemented changes to their efiling system in February of this year. These changes, related to online navigation and the capability for user to company interaction, may reveal a lot about the direction of efiling solutions, a tax tool that is gaining in popularity and demand.

Form 2290 is a standardized form used to pay the heavy vehicle use tax, a yearly fee owed by operators of heavy vehicles with a gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more. The funds acquired go towards keeping up the nation’s roads on many different levels. They contribute to maintenance and upkeep, safety support systems, new road projects, and more.

In the past, truckers were required to stop in at an IRS office in order to file. They also had the option of filing by mail, but that meant waiting for an extended period of time to receive proof of payment, leaving them vulnerable if they were placed under scrutiny and possibly eating up valuable driving time sorting the matter out with authorities.

In 2007, the government recognized this issue as well as the high probability of mistakes with those systems and decided it was best to allow a small number of certified firms to provide an online solution. The idea was to create an easy way to file the heavy vehicle truck tax so busy drivers could meet their obligations without interrupting the flow of work.

Coming on the scene in 2009, YTT LLC soon recognized issues that existed with the efiling systems and decided to themselves apart by addressing those issues. The February changes mark their first attempt to do so and a variety of improvements were implemented.

The first of these was to cut down on the time it takes from filing Form 2290 to printing out the Schedule 1. The entire website navigation was modified to guide customers through the site, using frequent help text and a “how it works” button on the different pages for quick reference. Context sensitive help was installed for quick descriptions and examples of steps. Finally, a link to direct support was provided on each screen.

Now the results are in. Tax filing volume increased by 100% since the release of above features in February 2010, and YTT sees it as a clear indication of what the trucking industry needs for optimal efiling.
